The L-shaped space is a long and narrow one way out with single circulation and intensive natural light, which is not an ideal place for shopping.
AAA’s design focused on how to transform the existing defectives into favorable conditions. Firstly we inserted two vertical partitions in the L-shaped space and divided the long volume into two parts, makingtwo sets of ring circulations that added more layers of experience. The 4.6-meter-high ceiling allows height differencesbetween the independent show areas, inspiring permeation between each other while maintaining the compartmentalization to offer a secluded peacefulness to the customers as if they were windling through a garden.
Limited by the existing structure, the architect tried to create spectacular atmosphere by adapting special materials and to upgrade the dull space with ambiguousness. Reflective skin and materials of different colors and textures were adapted in particular areas to reduce the visual heaviness of structural elements and turned the space into a romantic collage.
